Mentoring dating couples
“Older women likewise…are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.” It is so important to be in mentoring relationships with older and younger men and women.
Paul explicitly calls older women to teach younger women how to run their homes and love their family.
The Bible speaks to the practice of seeking wisdom from another with a good example in the Book of Proverbs: —Proverbs 1:5, KJV One of the benefits of being mentored while dating is to get a real-world view from someone who truly can increase your learning with the wisdom of years.
But it also is for that person to see how YOU interact with your family.
I can't emphasize enough how much you will learn about how your future spouse will treat you, relate to you, resolve conflicts with you, etc., just by seeing how that person treats family, relates to family, resolves conflicts with family, etc.
I believe family-based courtship serves many purposes!
One purpose is for you to see how the other person will interact with your family, because family is so important.
